Min Sung Kim

   Min Sung Kim was born in 1971 in Non-san, South Korea. He majored in physics at the State University in Korea. Two years later he moved to Salt Lake City, USA, to study violin making with Peter Paul Prier. In 1999 he moved to Italy. In 2003 Min Sung Kim graduated from IPIALL (International Violin Making School in Cremona) in the class of Primo Pistoni and Alessandro Voltini. 

He opened his own workshop near Piazza Risorgimento in Cremona (via delle acque No. 11, 26100 Cremona) where he works until today.


Prize-winner at numerous competitions:

2006 - Bronze medal for a cello tone at the 11th Triennale in Cremona

2006 - Certificate of Merit for cello tone at the 17th International Violin Making of VSA

2007 - 4th place for a cello tone at the International Competition of Cello Making in Manchester

2008 - Gold Medal for a cello at the 2nd National Italian Competition in Pisogne

2009 - Silver Medal for a cello at the 3rd National Italian Competition in Pisogne

2010 - Gold Medal for the best set up  of a cello at the 1st China International Violin Making Competition

2010 - Silver Medal for the best workmanship of a cello at the 6th International Violin Making Competition of VSA (Cleveland, Ohio)
