Gaeun Kim



At 18 years old, Gaeun Kim was awarded the 2025 Shinhan Music Award and, in 2024, distinguished herself as the youngest of the 24 finalists at the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition Hannover. She has won First Prize at the Vienna Beethoven International Competition, Second Prize (with no First Prize awarded) and the Special Prize for Contemporary Music at the Zhuhai Mozart International Competition, and Second Prize (with no First Prize awarded) at the Leonid Kogan International Violin Competition. She also received the Grand Prize in the violin division at the New Jersey Sinfonietta Korean Young Artist Music Competition, which led to her debut recital at the Laeiszhalle Recital Hall in Hamburg.

At the age of 13, Kim gave her first solo recital, The House Concert: Gaeun Kim's Violin Concert. She subsequently presented solo recitals, including the Kumho Young Prodigy Concert Series at Kumho Art Hall. Most recently, she gave her fourth solo recital at Kumho Art Hall as part of the Kumho Young Artist Concert Series in May 2026. Kim is currently studying with Shmuel Ashkenasi at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
