Helene Freytag

She was born in Leipzig in 2005 into a family of musicians, and began her violin studies at the age of 5. After completing her pre-college studies at Berlin University of the Arts with Latica Honda-Rosenberg, she began her Bachelor's degree at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna in 2024 under the guidance of Julian Rachlin. Since 2026, she has been a student of Alina Ibragimova at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin.
She has participated in masterclasses with, among others, Natalia Prishepenko, Mihaela Martin and Vilde Frang and has been a scholarship holder of the Music Academy in Liechtenstein since 2021. As a soloist, Helene has appeared with orchestras including the Staatskapelle Halle, the Jenaer Philharmonie and various orchestras in Saxony.
She is a prize winner of the International Postacchini Competition, the Tibor Varga Junior Competition and the 15th International Violin Competition in Honour of K. Lipiński and H. Wieniawski in Lublin. Chamber music has been a central part of Helene’s life for many years. Since 2021, she has been playing in a fixed piano trio, the Freytag Trio.
