Second Pre-Selection Stage also held in video format

Taking into account the geopolitical situation at the time (the war in the Middle East), we decided to change the format of the second qualification stage and cancelled the planned live auditions in selected cities around the world.

How did the second pre-selection round work?

As in the first round, the Jury evaluated the candidates based on submitted recordings. The compulsory programme included: one caprice of choice by N. Paganini, one of the specified movements/sets from J.S. Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, and one of the specified works (or sets of works) by H. Wieniawski.

Public access to recordings

The recordings of all candidates were made available to the general public. They could be viewed on the official Wieniawski Society YouTube channel only during the Jury’s deliberations: from Wednesday, 13 May (6:00 PM) to Sunday, 17 May (6:00 PM). In order to ensure conditions conducive to focused listening and to maintain full impartiality, the commenting function on the YouTube recordings was disabled.
